Fla. lawmakers mull drone policy

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. —Florida lawmakers are considering proposed limitations on drones being used by law enforcement agencies across the state.

A bill has already passed a state senate panel.

If approved, the proposal would require investigators to get a search warrant. An exception would be a credible threat of a terrorist attack.

The Orange County Sheriff’s office has already purchased two drones. They are awaiting approval from the County Commission and FAA before being used.

The Daytona Beach Police Department also purchased two similar devices.
